Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Kaptains and friends, please give a huge Eureka Springs welcome to our distinguished Grand Marshal! She first came to America from England in 1960, after meeting and marrying her beloved husband, Ron, there in 1956 while he was stationed overseas with the military. He proudly served for 21 years, and together they traveled the world during their incredible 65 years of marriage. In 1978, the couple visited his cousin, who had moved here from California and they instantly fell in love with the charm of Eureka Springs, its welcoming people, and this magical town. They made it their home and never looked back. Here, she met the beloved June Owen, and the two became the best of friends, known far and wide as the ‘June Bugs of Eureka Springs.’ Whether cheering at parades, creating her famous ‘Eureka Happy Scarves,’ or dancing to the beat at 91 years young, June has been a joyful fixture in our community. June Owen passed at the age of 97, and sadly, her devoted husband Ron passed in 2024. She misses them both dearly. Today, at 93 years young, she continues to inspire us with her spirit, her stories, and her love for this town. She is the proud mother of two daughters\u2014one in California and one right here in Bentonville, Arkansas. Please join the Kaptains in as we honor this remarkable lady\u2014our Grand Marshal\u2014June Hegedus. She has been a staple of the Saint Patrick’s day parade here, and we wanted to put her at the front of the parade this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
